Blue Rondo
Founded in 2004 by Tenerife bass player David López, a musician actively involved in the Canarian music scene, being a member and collaborator of several bands since 1994. This project meant a radical change with respect to the rest of his musical experience.
The progressive rock of the 70s, electronic, ambient and even concrete music are some of the influences that are reflected in what are 10 works published to date.
In 2014, Jorge Hernández joined the band on guitars and composition, giving a turn in the sound of Blue Rondo towards folk and sonata-like duo developments, which even evoke the baroque. That same year David González also began to collaborate, on keyboards and more actively as a permanent member and producer since 2019.
With their album Vespertinos (Los 80 Pasan Factura / El Hombre Bala Records / Pretérita Futura [2018]) they managed to make a presentation that included several performances in Tenerife, two in Vizcaya, as well as La Gomera and El Hierro, within the HeroFest festival. In October of the same year they won second prize in the ULL Rock contest, organised by the University of La Laguna as part of its 2019 Music Awards. Meanwhile, the label Pretérita Futura re-releases all their work to make it available on streaming platforms.
Blue Rondo is then presented in two formats, the string duo part and the trio part with the programming and keyboards of David González. Other regular studio and live collaborators are Dailos González (drums and percussion) and Dácil Perdigón (vocals).
Jacío (Pretérita Futura [2021]), their latest work published to date, has meant a solidity in the orientation of their sound and for the moment it has been presented in El Hierro and Tenerife, in places like the Real Casino de Valverde, the Asociación Cultural Equipo Para, the Museo Municipal de Bellas Artes de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Teatro Leal within the cycle “Efecto Laguna” in October 2022 and the Vórtice Café (these last two concerts in La Laguna).
