Jurandir Dã Silva
Jurandir Dã Silva is a guitarist originally from Salvador de Bahia, Brazil.
Instrumentalist, composer and musical director, he has dedicated his more than twenty-five years of musical career to the performance, research and dissemination of Brazilian music.
His long career has allowed him to assimilate a profound knowledge of the complexity of Brazilian music through creation, research and the discovery of new sounds and rhythms.
In 2006, Jurandir Santana released his first album “Só Brasil”, a project that won the Braskem Culture and Art Award. This work, which is the result of two decades of musical research, brings a new sonority and discovers unexpected nuances in the music of Brazil.
In 2015 he released his album “Um Segundo”, with the collaboration of jazz saxophonist Seamus Blake, where he also adds to his instrumental proposal, his facet as a singer and lyricist.
Throughout his career he has had the honour of working with musicians and great artists such as: Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Daniela Mercury, Margareth Menezes, Trio da Cali, Jaques Morelembaum, Paula Morelembaum, Seamus Blake, Toninho Horta, Nelson Veras, Andrea Motis, Carme Canela, Miguel Llamas, Mariene de Castro, Fabiana Cozza, Fredrik Noore, Armadinho Macedo, Nelson Ayres.
Jurandir is currently on the international tour of the renowned Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara.
In this edition of the Festival Internacional 6Cuerdas Jurandir will offer a concert in trio format.
