Born in Lebrija (Seville), Rycardo Moreno has worked as a music producer, arranger, composer, and guitarist. Discovered by Gerardo Núñez, who became his mentor, he launched his solo career with the album “Varekai”, followed by “Agaleano” and “Mi Esencia”—the latter named by El País as Best Flamenco Album of 2020. His fourth album, “En vivo” (Live), was recorded during a concert in Seville. For his fifth release he ventured into a symphonic work for guitar and orchestra, “Concierto No. 1 for Guitar and Orchestra — La Perla,” issued by Satélite K, which received excellent reviews, including in Babelia (El País). All his early albums were released by Nuba Karonte.
He opened La Bienal de Sevilla, and in 2022 appeared on various stages of the festival, as well as at Guitarra Desnuda. In recent years, performing music from these albums, he has appeared in major cities such as London, New York, Chicago, Tel Aviv, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Istanbul, in Romania, and across Spain.
He established himself as a soloist after a guitar-only recital at the Auditorio Nacional, earning high praise from flamenco scholars. As critic Luis Ybarra (ABC) wrote: “Within his generation, Rycardo stands out with a radically personal sound.”
A creator of his own language and an insatiable researcher, Manuel Martín describes him thus: “Endowed with a strong sense of individuality, he plays flamenco because he knows it, because he can, and because he is. We are all made of the same clay, but not from the same mold.”
